All attendees, speakers, sponsors, staff, family members, and volunteers at our conference are required to agree with and follow the Code of Conduct.
CodeMash is dedicated to providing a harassment-free conference experience for everyone, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, or tabs vs spaces preference. We do not tolerate harassment of conference participants in any form. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any CodeMash venue.
Harassment includes offensive verbal comments, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.
If a participant engages in harassing behavior, the conference organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expulsion from the conference with no refund. If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of conference staff immediately. Conference staff will be happy to help participants contact hotel/venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the conference. We value your attendance.
We expect participants to follow these rules at all conference venues, online or offline, and conference-related social events.
Reporting
If you are being harassed by a member of CODEMASH CONFERENCE, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact the RESPONSE TEAM at:
- Personally: Anyone wearing a CODEMASH staff uniform
- Email: safety@codemash.org
- Phone: (419) 504-1616
If you are suffering outright assault or extreme harassment, you should contact the Kalahari staff/security/law enforcement immediately, for your safety, and then alert the RESPONSE TEAM. CodeMash staff will escalate to the Kalahari staff or law enforcement, as appropriate.
If the person who is harassing you is on the team, they will recuse themselves from handling your incident. The RESPONSE TEAM will respond as promptly as they can.
This code of conduct applies to CODEMASH CONFERENCE spaces, but if you are being harassed by a member of CODEMASH CONFERENCE outside our spaces, we still want to know about it. We will take all good-faith reports of harassment by CODEMASH CONFERENCE members, especially the LEADERSHIP TEAM, seriously. This includes harassment outside our spaces and harassment that took place at any point in time. The abuse team reserves the right to exclude people from CODEMASH CONFERENCE based on their past behavior, including behavior outside CODEMASH CONFERENCE spaces and behavior towards people who are not in CODEMASH CONFERENCE.
